Survivor Racism
The new season of Survivor (starting in mid Sept) has a new twist and there are a lot of people that aren't happy about it. This time, the groups will be initially divided into 4 camps, whites, blacks, mexicans, and orientals. Oh wait, that's caucasion, african americans, hispanics, and asians. Apparently they couldn't find any Indians, and I say that's the group that should be the most offended. How did native-americans get left out here?
A NYC councilman, John Liu, said "This show has the potential to set back our nation's race relations by 50 years." Let's not get carried away, 45 years, tops.
My favorite line in the Yahoo article was this: "Liu, an Asian American, is hoping to..." No, seriously, someone named Liu is Asian?
Here's how the show will most likely proceed through the first few episodes:
Asian Team: Most likely to win the SAT challenge.
Black Team: Winners of the coconut-basketball tournament.
Mexican Team: Clear advantage in the obstacle course.
Whites: Sitting around complaining that the island neighborhood has gone to hell.
